Boats and Yachts Shipping

With a fleet designed for maximum flexibility, we are able to cater for a wide range of cargo. Our customers range from global vehicle manufacturers to producers of high and heavy construction equipment and other rolling and non-rolling stock such as boats and yachts.

Boats and Yachts Transportation

Due to the nature of this commodity, yachts and boats fit perfectly on Höegh’s wide range of roll trailers. With lengths ranging from six to 24 metres, we can accommodate an extensive range on our vessels.

For wider boats such as catamarans, we use our Double-wide rolltrailer concept, which involves two 40 feet roll trailers positioned side-by-side, joined together by a coupling system.

Transportation of boats is either on their own trailer or on a roll trailer – with or without a cradle. Either way, our experienced cargo handling team will ensure the cargo is secure during its transport.

How to ship a yacht or boat overseas?

Transportation of boats is either on their own trailer or on a roll trailer – with or without a cradle. Either way, our experienced cargo handling team will ensure the cargo is secure during transport.

Here's how the process generally works:

  1. The boat or yacht is typically loaded onto the roll trailer at the water’s edge using a crane or a hydraulic trailer. The trailer is positioned under the vessel, and the boat is carefully lifted and placed onto the trailer, ensuring proper balance and weight distribution.
  2. Once the boat is on the roll trailer, it needs to be securely fastened to prevent any movement or damage during transportation. This usually involves using straps, chains, or other methods to secure the boat to the trailer. It’s crucial to ensure the boat is tightly secured to minimize the risk of shifting or damage.
  3. Roll trailers are designed to facilitate roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) transportation, which means the boat or yacht can be easily rolled onto and off the trailer without needing a loading ramp. This is especially useful when transporting boats between land and water.
  4. Once the boat is securely fastened to the roll trailer, it can be towed or transported by a suitable vehicle, such as a truck or semi-trailer. The transportation route will depend on the destination and the specific logistics involved.
  5. At the destination, the boat or yacht is carefully rolled off the trailer and placed back into the water. This is typically done using a crane or a hydraulic trailer, similar to the loading process but in reverse. Proper care is taken to ensure the vessel is safely returned to the water without any damage.
